Mike's New Tattoos and Ed's Warrior

Today I added more photos of Mikes work. They're located in his January 2006 gallery. Check out the gallery and take a look at the fantastic stuff he's been doing.

Ed is one of my oldest and closest friends. We've been adding to his tattoo collection twice a month for the past 10 years or so. Some of his work is featured in a gallery (Ed & Family) along with some pictures of the rest of his family. I'm hoping to spend an hour or so photographing all of his tattoo work to add to the gallery in the near future. I've tattooed Ed, his wife Jean, and thier kids; Niki, Janita, Misty, and Lance. We're waiting for the grandkids to turn 18 to see if the family tradition will continue.

We're currently working on a native warrior on Ed's left thigh. We started this tattoo a couple months ago but then had to take a short break due to unforseen circumstances. We're back at it again and here's how things stand at present.

Ed picked a flash design from the walls of the shop and I redrew it slightly. We did the line work and the heavy black during the first session.

Next we added black and grey shading to create depth and texture.

During our most recent session we added the bulk of the color. Next session we'll finish the tattoo by adding the skin tones and a couple remaining colors.

Stay tuned for further deveolpments.

Progress on Steve's Arm

Steve started coming into the shop about 4 years ago. He has since become a regular coustomer and a good friend. He has his own gallery featuring a back piece that we did over the course of the last 2 years. After finishing his back piece we started working on upper arm sleeves.

We started with a tattoo done several years ago by one of my apprentices...

Working from several photos of Steve's arm, I did a sketch that I worked from to lay down the line work for the new tattoo. I redid the more inportant lines in the old tattoo and will eventually touch up the color in the old piece to keep it from being overpowered by the new work. Since his backpiece has a sun overhead, this piece will include a dusky sky and a rising moon...

In the most recent session we added color to the evergreen trees and mountains and did the shading in the foreground rocks...

Stay tuned for further developments...

New Photos

I spent an hour of two yesterday adding photos of tattoos I completed in December to the Photo Gallery. My next project is readying January's photos for uploading. I'm hoping to finish that this week.

I'm currently working on an upper arm tattoo on Jason. Jason has been coming in every other week for quite some time now and is building a nice collection of tattoo art. His work featured in the Photo Gallery. Here's a quick synopsis of what has happened with this project so far...

Jason pickes a flash design from the wall and I ink the line work...

Next we add black work and shading...

Then Jason proposes a stone archway and brick wall. We sketch until we find a design that everyone likes and I ink the line work...

During our most recent session I finished the black work and shading and started adding color to the sky area...

Stay tuned for further updates.

The Blog Experiment

The Blog Experiment begins today. My goal is to maintain a blog with updates on tattoos that I am currently working on and projects I have recently completed. I will try to post pictures of completed work and tattoos in progress as they become available. I would also like to add information about the client's thoughts and ideas and about source material that was used in creating each tattoo.
